In this text, a reflection is carried out on the resilience of democracy in Latin Americancountries, which admits notable differences for each case, based on the conceptualization of weary democracy. It occurs within tired societies in a framework in which advertising plays a starring role different from the one it played until just a decade ago. The serious difficulties that exist in consolidating the state, incapable of gaining a monopoly on legitimate violence, and the frustrating search for consensus in highly fragmented societies constitute two issues to consider at the end of a year that leaves recurring issues on the table in the edge of autocracy.
