Abstract

At the beginning of the 1990s, serious acts of corruption and organized crime were recorded in Italy, which began two decades before. On the one hand, the worsening of the situation and, on the other hand, pressure from the mass media and civil society made the authorities take action to combat the mafia and corruption. The document relates the Italian experience in the fight against corruption and organized crime. The main strategy was to restore the citizen’s confidence in the government by delivering results and taking responsibility for public affairs.
