Author Guidelines

Nature of Submissions. The journal will consider articles based on research in the disciplinary areas of accountability, transparency, anti-corruption, oversight, professionalization, citizen participation, and related topics. Submitted manuscripts may not be simultaneously submitted for publication to another journal.

Writing. Submissions—including footnotes and bibliography—should be 8,000 to 11,000 words, written in Times New Roman at 12 point and 1.5 spacing.

About the authors. At the beginning of the text, the author's name(s), institution(s), and complete postal and email addresses should be indicated. In addition, the author's ORCID.org account and a résumé of the author(s) should be included, not exceeding ten lines.

Abstract. Authors should include a 50-word summary of their manuscript in Spanish and English with five key concepts. They should also include the title of the work in Spanish and English.

Format. Articles should be formatted in Word; citations and references should be prepared according to APA 7th edition (author, year, page).

  • All section titles and subtitles must be clear and concise.
  • When the article contains direct quotations of up to 5 lines or up to 40 words, they must appear in the body of the text, enclosed in quotation marks. If the quotation is longer, they must be written in a separate paragraph, indented on both sides, without quotation marks, and single-spaced. When the quotation contains additions by the author, these must be enclosed in brackets. Every in-text quotation must be accompanied by the corresponding bibliographic reference.
  • When using acronyms, the first mention of them must be enclosed in parentheses and preceded by the full name.
  • Footnotes and references must contain complete bibliographic information: authors' names; title (in quotation marks for an article, in italics for a book); names of the compilers, coordinators, etc., if any; place of publication, publisher, year of publication, and number of pages.
  • Tables, figures, and charts should have descriptive titles and sources.
  • Notes with their sources should appear immediately below.
  • If the text contains visual or graphic elements, they must also be submitted as an attached file, in the program in which they were originally created (Excel or other), so that they can be modified if necessary.
